William Georgaqui

BOSTON - Mr. William Georgaqui, of Boston, died unexpectedly at home on July 22, 2026. He was 83.

William was born on April 28, 1943, in Boston, the son of the late Albanian immigrants, John and Angelina (Kostandin) Georgaqui. Raised in the city's historic West End, he remained a proud and familiar presence in the neighborhood throughout his life.

In his earlier years, Billy and his brother Russ owned and operated Plaza Suite Restaurant in Government Center , a gathering place where courthouse employees, attorneys, judges, clerks, and neighborhood residents alike could always count on a warm welcome. Known by name to so many of his regular patrons, Billy's friendly personality and genuine hospitality made the restaurant a cherished fixture of the community. Later in life, he pursued another passion by owning and operating his own aromatherapy business.

A man of broad interests and adventurous spirit, Billy was well traveled. At various times in his life, he maintained a flat in Paris and New York City, yet Boston always remained the place he proudly called home. He had a lifelong appreciation for the arts and fine automobiles and remained deeply connected to the history of his beloved neighborhood. He generously devoted his time to The West End Museum, serving in a variety of leadership and officer positions while helping preserve the rich heritage and enduring legacy of the West End for future generations.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Anne Sawtelle, Thomas ‘Russ’ Georgaqui, Mary Meucci and Virginia Georgaqui; nieces and nephews including John, Nancy and Joseph Sawtelle, Michael and Julie Meucci.

He leaves his beloved sister and best friend, Helen Georgaqui of Boston; many nieces & nephews and their families. Funeral services and burial in Newton Cemetery are private.
