Walter A. Jensen

Waltham – Mr. Walter A. Jensen, of Waltham, formerly of Watertown, died Friday, June 17, 2022 at his home. He was 79.

Walter was born in Boston on October 19, 1942, a son of the late Walter L. and Nancy (Guardabasso) Jensen, and was raised in Watertown. After graduating from Watertown High he served for four years with the United States Marine Corps. He lived in Watertown before moving to Waltham in 1968.

Until his retirement Walter worked for more than thirty years as an installer and contractor for the New England Telephone Company.

He was a longtime member of the Waltham Sons of Italy and the Keys Bowling League of Cambridge, and later, in Dorchester.

At home Walter was a master craftsman and woodworker, a man who not only had the tools, but knew how to use them. He also prided himself as the family historian after genealogical research revealed that his family traced three different paths to settlers who arrived on the Mayflower. For more than forty years he and his family enjoyed yearly vacations at Bayley's Campground in Scarborough, Maine.

The husband of the late Mary A. (Corr) Jensen, he leaves his children, Wayne C. Jensen (Tiana Langone) of Framingham, Kristine M. Jensen of Clarkston, Washington and Andrew M. Jensen (Kathleen) of Hudson; his sister, Claire Chateauneuf of Walpole; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

He was also a brother of the late Walter C. Jensen, Nancy Hickey and Priscilla Kelly.

Family and friends will honor and remember Walter's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, June 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again on Thursday morning when his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
