Mrs. Virginia M. (Corkery) Gentile, of Ashland, died Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Mary Ann Morse in Natick. She was 79.
Born in Waltham on May 27, 1947, she was the daughter of the late James J. Corkery, Jr. and Marie S. (Kaucikas) Corkery. She was raised in Waltham and graduated from Rosary Academy.
After graduating from high school, she worked for New England Telegram before beginning her career as a teller at Watertown Savings Bank. Over 50 years with the bank, she worked her way up to Assistant Vice President and Loan Officer in Commercial Lending.
Family was everything to Virginia. She loved summers down the Cape, where a big group of family would gather in Yarmouth and Brewster for what they fondly called "Ginny Camp." She also enjoyed trips to Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she cherished the family gatherings and simply being surrounded by the people she loved. She also never missed her weekly trips to HomeGoods.
She was the loving mother of Larry Gentile and his wife phyliss, of Bellingham and the late Lisa M. Gentile. She also leaves her grandchild, Shane Corcoran; her sister, Linda T. McCabe and her husband Kevin of Sudbury; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late James J. Corkery, III.
Family and friends will honor and remember Virginia's life by gathering for visiting hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, October 27, 2026 from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a service at 11 a.m. in the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery, Framingham.
