Waltham- Mr. Thomas J. Callahan of Waltham died Saturday December 27th, 2003 in Saint Elizabeth’s Medical Center, Brighton. He was 83. Born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late Thomas J. and Mary (Brannelly) Callahan, Mr. Callahan was a Welder for the Boston Naval Shipyard for many years and then later worked at Brandeis University in the Post Office until his retirement. Mr. Callahan was a 1937 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School and was a lifetime member of the West Suburban YMCA in Newton. Mr. Callahan was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps. Mr. Callahan was the brother of the late Margaret Anderson, Ruth Shaw and Mildred Mannix. Mr. Callahan is survived by three sisters Madeline and Rita Callahan both of Waltham and Marie Rooney of Framingham. Also survived by many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church 133 School Street, Waltham at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visting hours Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Donation’s in Mr. Callahan’s memory made to the Charity of one’s choice.
