Medford - Thomas “Scott” Bryce, died unexpectedly at home on Monday, April 7, 2025. He was 58.
Thomas Scott Bryce was born April 24, 1966, in Medford, the son of the late Thomas and Rose (LoConte) Bryce. Raised in Stoneham, he graduated from Stoneham High School. He later moved to Medford where he lived until his passing.
Scott’s passions were not the ones that sought the spotlight, but rather the quiet corners of his world. Throughout his life, he pursued the piano, the organ, and music in general. His musical talent was enjoyed at the First Baptist Church of Stoneham where he often served as organist. Through the years, Scott pursued knowledge in unconventional ways. Through self-study, he learned several languages for many years. With a book he bought at his favorite place—Barnes & Noble, he taught himself to write Chinese. His love of maps and geography led to his collection of postcards from around the world. He had a lasting impact on those who knew him, even if it was subtle.
He leaves his sisters, Jean L. LaRosee and her husband, Steven of Carver, MA, and Gail J. Driscoll (late Timothy) of Tampa, FL.
Family and friends will honor and remember Scott’s life by gathering for a Morning Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Saturday, April 26th, from 10 - 11 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. The Rev. Norman Norton will officiate. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody, is private.
