Signe V. (Brooks) Kent

Mrs. Signe V. (Brooks) Kent, of Newton, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston after multiple post-surgical complications. She was 82.
Signe was born on May 9, 1937 in Waltham a daughter of the late Signe V. (Anderson) Brooks and Thomas H. Brooks. She lived most of her life in Newton and
was a graduate of Newton High School with the class of 1955 and attended Framingham State College. An employee at McLean Hospital for 37 years she devoted herself to the many patients, as well as the all the people around her.
"I am glad I did what I did when I did it" was Nana's favorite saying. Her adventurous spirit and unmatched will gave her the ability to do more than any cancer survivor should have been ever able to do...let alone surviving it for over 56 years.
Signe is predeceased by her children, Stephen F. Brooks and Linda L. Kent; her former husband, Ronald W. Kent; her longtime companion Robert C. Day; six siblings, Evelyn L. (MacCartney) Anderson, Thomas H. Brooks Jr., Helen (Brooks) Porter, Joseph F. Brooks, Carl F. Brooks and John W. Brooks
She leaves her children, Kevin C. Kent (Susan Boston-Kent) of Framingham and Meg Halloran-Wilson (Brian) of Falmouth; her grandchildren Charles, Jonathan, Eric and Alexander Kent, Shawna, Stephanie and Stephen Brooks; her great-grandchildren Mason, Madison, Carter, Freya, Armand and Sophia; her granddaughter-in-law Crystal Kent. She leaves behind many devoted nieces and nephews and dear friends.
Family and friends will honor and remember Signe's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, January 3rd from 4 to 8 p.m. and again at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Help of Christians Church, 573 Washington Street, Newton where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 12 Noon. Burial will follow in Newton Cemetery, Newton.
