Mr. Salvatore J. Dichio, of Punta Gorda, Florida, formerly of Watertown and Centerville, died peacefully on Monday, August 31, 2026, he was 97.
Salvatore John Dichio was born October 5, 1928, in Boston, a son of the late Anthony and Antonetta (Riccardi) Dichio. Raised in East Boston, he was a graduate of East Boston High School. He honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II.
He married East Boston native Elvira R. Pelligriti on April 19, 1953, in Saint Anthony’s Church in Revere. A longtime resident of Watertown, they later divided their time between their homes on Cape Cod and in Florida.
Sal worked simultaneously for Boston Edison and the South Boston Postal Annex for over 40 years.
Sal’s family was the most important thing in his life in addition to spending as much time as he possibly could with his three daughters, his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed going to the Casino, playing in his weekly card games with the guys and playing Bocci along with his daily 2:00 P.M. Drink &Cigar.
Sal was predeceased by his siblings, Ellen Diieso, Lucy Myko, Pasquale Dichio, and Nancy Malino.
In addition to his wife of 74 years Elvira, he leaves his children, Gale M. Dichio – Conley (Paul) of Waltham, Lynn A. Menton of Kingston, Maria L. Stafford of Chelmsford and Anthony Dichio (Anna) of Littleton; his grandchildren, Paul J. ‘P.J.’ Conley, Jr. (Kaleigh), Jamey Conley, Brianna Lutz (Jerry), Jake Menton (Kayla), Danielle Menton (Christopher), Matthew Stafford (Kim), Christina Morton (Shane), Michael Dichio (Joanna), Justin Dichio (Laura), Alexa Perdikis (Christian); his great-grandchildren, Cecilia, Lilah, Camden, Avery, Emersyn, Connor, Wyatt, Eliot, Sienna and Natalie. In addition to his grandchildren, he leaves many nieces and nephews and their families.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced.
