Mrs. Ruth A. (Jutras) Colman, of Watertown, died peacefully in her home on Christmas Day. She was 92.
Ruth was born in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Jeffrey and Juliette (Janelle) Jutras. Raised in Cambridge she went on to work at Sears, Roebuck, and Co. following high school. In November, 1957 she married the love of her life and childhood next-door-neighbor, William F. Colman. The pair made Watertown their lifelong home in 1962 where they would raise their family.
Ruth enjoyed life’s simple pleasures; she could often be found gardening or finishing a jigsaw puzzle, but nothing brought her more joy or happiness than time spent with her seven grandchildren. Whether it was a short visit or extended stay Ruth cherished every moment with them. She also enjoyed the areas of coastal Maine with Wells, Kennebunkport, and Bar Harbor being among some of her favorite destinations.
In addition to her parents and husband, Bill, she is reunited in Heaven with her son, Kenneth Colman, and brothers and sister, Paul, Albert, and Robert Jutras, and Geraldine Pratt.
She leaves her daughters, Ruth M. Colman of Watertown, Mary K. Cote of Watertown, and Ann M. Marmion (Tim) of Waltham; her grandchildren, Kathryn, Matthew, and Julia Cote, Laura Sterritt (William), Emily Geary (Kevin), and Joseph and Jennifer Marmion; her great-grandchildren, Holly Geary and Liam Sterritt; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Family and friends will honor and remember Ruth’s life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Tuesday, December 30th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Wednesday morning at 9 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Luke's Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
