Rosalie M. (Magnarelli) Frassica

May 19, 1943 — February 23, 2024

West Newton

Mrs. Rosalie M. (Magnarelli) Frassica, of West Newton, died Friday, February 23, 2024 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.  She was 80.

Rosalie was born in Brighton on May 19, 1943, a daughter of the late Cesidio and Dorothy (Leone) Magnarelli, and was raised in Newton.  Her father, a member of the U.S. Army’s highly decorated 10th Armored Division, was wounded and captured near Bastogne during the fierce Battle of the Bulge that occurred over Christmas, 1944.  He died of his wounds shortly thereafter in a German POW camp in Prussia. Her mother, widowed at a young age, raised Rosalie with the help of a loving family, loyal friends and kind neighbors in the Nonantum section of Newton.

She was a 1961 graduate of Newton North High School and Chandler School for Women in 1965.   Rosalie worked for years as an office manager for the Norumbega Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Wilmot-Whitney Real Estate, and later for Frasco Printing in Waltham.

Rosalie loved her family, music, cooking, camping, RV travel and time spent at ‘the beach house’ in Wareham. She will long be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many.

She leaves her husband of fifty-seven years, John A. Frassica; her children, John A. Frassica II, and his wife Ann, of Waltham and Joseph J. Frassica, and his wife Victoria, of Newton; her grandchildren, Robert, Stacey “Lexi”, Isabel, Nicole and Dylan Frassica and many loving cousins.

She was also a niece of the late Jerry and Val Leone and Eleanor and John Elicone.

Family and friends will honor and remember Rosalie's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, March 3rd from 2 to 5 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
