Robert J. Peltier

March 28, 1955 — October 24, 2021

Bob Peltier of Metairie, Louisiana, formerly of Waltham, Massachusetts lost his
3 ½ year courageous fight with cancer on October 24, 2021.

Robert Joseph Peltier was born on March 28, 1955 in Newton, Massachusetts a son of Barbara (LeBlanc) Peltier and the late Milton Peltier.

Beloved husband of Beth (Murphy-Hardy) Peltier, he was the proud father and stepfather to Jason Peltier and Josh Hardy and his wife Robin, all from Metairie, Louisiana. He was the brother of Sandra Anderson and her fiancé, Charlie Frost of Waltham and brother-in-law of Maryanne Peltier of Billerica. Bob also leaves his grandchildren Kacie, Ashley and Allen, all from Louisiana and his nephews, Richard, Daniel, Matthew and Christopher. He was predeceased by his brother David Peltier.

Bob was a 1973 graduate of Waltham High School, and went on to have two partnership companies (Metric Systems and Broadway Auto) where he was a skilled auto mechanic. He later retired from Long Life Auto. Bob could fix anything he set his mind to and was a perfectionist in all that he did.

He took great pride in working on his house and supporting his family. When he wasn't fixing something, his hobbies included making furniture, building model remote control vehicles and a tree house for the kids when they were young.

He loved anything with a motor and so "The bigger the boy, the bigger the toy" would certainly apply. He owned motorcycles and entered races in New Hampshire, as well as a few Boats, a Bob Cat and Snow Mobiles. He still had his father's snowblower from the 1960's, and used it up until moving south. He would buy cars, fix them up and sell them. He had over 50 cars and kept a key from each one. He loved spending time with his family at the Beach where everyone would gather each year for the "Florida Fam Jam", or camping at Cape Neddick with his closest friends who all knew him as "Pelly" who was quick to smile.

Although he wasn't able to enjoy the retirement that was planned, he was able to fulfill one dream to move south to Louisiana where the motto is "Sportsman's Paradise", which was quite appropriate to enjoy fishing and year-round warm weather. A Memorial Bench will be placed at his favorite spot in LaFrenier Park in Metairie for his family to find comfort.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bob's life by gathering for calling hours at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, November 4th from 3 to 6 p.m. and again on Friday morning where his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.

Memorials in his name may be made to The American Cancer Society, PO Box 1120 , Framingham, MA 01701 or www.cancer.org/about-us/local/massachusetts.html
