Robert S. Harrington

March 27, 1947 — November 12, 2022

Waltham

Bob Harrington…self-described as ‘short, fat, good-looking and all-around great guy.’ These words ring true; he was a good guy who loved the people and many friendships in his life.

Bob died Saturday, November 12, 2022 in Maristhill Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a period of failing health. He was 75.

Robert S. Harrington was born March 27, 1947 in Boston a son of the late Leo F. and Marie G. (Swift) Harrington. Raised in Watertown he was a 1964 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School in Waltham. He married Carol J. Aucoin on May 23, 1970 in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church and had been a Waltham resident since 1972. Bob honorably served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Professionally Bob worked successfully in sales for Mass Gas & Electric for over twenty years and later for Needham Electric Supply Co. where he served as an inside sales representative, retiring in 1996. Not one to stay home, he then worked in security for AstraZeneca, BankBoston and Abbott Labs.

In early years he was a Webelos Den Leader and Cubmaster of Pack #263 and an Assistant Scoutmaster with Troop #248. It’s no secret he loved Elvis, the Boston Bruins and traveling extensively with Carol on countless cruises and trips. But one of his favorite pastimes were the Sunday morning rounds of golf with good buddies, Russ Aucoin, Frank Wilwerth and Joe Charest on the links of Pine Meadows in Lexington.

Bob leaves his wife of 52 years, Carol; his children, Lynne M. Mullen (Brian) of N. Chelmsford, Scott R. Harrington (Kristi) of Londonderry, New Hampshire and Keith M. Harrington (Julie) of Derry, New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Abby, Teddy and Ally Harrington, Kaitlyn, Jackson and Karah Harrington; his siblings, P. Clifford Harrington (Judith) of Naples, Florida and Marcia Noborini (late Louis) of Marlborough; several brother and sister-in laws, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bob's life by gathering to visit at 11 a.m. on Thursday, November 17th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20) Waltham, followed by his funeral service at 12 Noon. Burial is private.
