Spring Hill, Fla. – Mr. Robert N. Daley, of Spring Hill, died Saturday, February 27, 2021 at Northside Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was 71.
Bob was born in Melrose on Christmas Day, 1949 to the late L. Arnold and Agnes (Fitzgerald) Daley. He was raised in Framingham and was a 1968 graduate of Framingham South High School.
After that he served as an infantryman in Vietnam with the United States Army.
Shortly after getting out of the service Bob met Natick native Jane Cormier and the pair married in June, 1980. Before moving to Florida five years ago they were longtime Ashland residents.
Until his retirement Bob worked as the benefits manager at EMC Corporation where he made many lifelong friends. Nicknamed 'the Mayor of EMC', Bob was well known for his boisterous laugh, daily hellos and caring demeanor. Bob had the rare ability to make fast friends with a stranger and was genuinely interested in the lives of those whose paths he crossed. He will long be remembered for being warm, loving, kind and generous.
One of his first jobs was being trained as the assistant chef at the Open Hearth restaurant, a job he particularly remembered with great fondness because it was there that he met his future bride, Jane. He also worked for a time in the business office at Leonard Morse Hospital and as a manager at Toys-R-Us.
Never one to sit idly, Bob spent lots of time with family and friends and was a gracious host and expert chef when guests arrived on his doorstep. He devoured the daily paper, loved to travel and had lots of hobbies including fly fishing, target shooting, swimming, attending live concerts and ball games, playing LCR and watching his beloved Patriots.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Mary Cochran and his nephew, Keith Cochran.
He leaves his wife of forty years, Jane M. (Cormier) Daley; his siblings, Carol Lydon of Framingham, Jane (Daley) Walsweer of Westfield, New Jersey and Peter Daley (MaryAnn) of Mashpee; his in-laws, Judy (Cormier) Lazaros of Shirley, Larry Cormier (Gail) of Jamestown, North Carolina, Carol (Cormier) Belisle (Steve) of Marion, and Ken Cormier of North Port, Florida; twenty-one beloved nieces and nephews, T.J Lydon, Anne (Lydon) Leclaire, Mike Lydon, Daniel Lynch II, MaryJane (Lynch) Prybylski, Betsy (Lynch) Gonzalez, Dennis Lynch, Katie (Lynch) Brown, Justin Daley, Brian Daley, Maura Daley, Kevin Cochran, Kimberly (Cochran) Lamb, Christy Belisle-Braun, Sarah (Belisle) Luminello, Ricky Belisle, Kelly (Lazaros) Francisco, Amy (Lazaros) MacKenzie, Tiffany (Cormier) Bartke, Courtney Cormier, Danielle Cormier and seventeen great-nieces and great-nephews.
