Rita L. Scafidi

Belmont – Mrs. Rita L. (Dube) Scafidi of Belmont, formerly of Waltham died Wednesday July 30, 2003 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge. She was 80. Born in Waltham, a daughter of the late Omer U. and Victorine F. (Mercier) Dube, she was a graduate of Waltham High School and lived in Waltham before moving to Belmont 30 years ago. She was a homemaker who had also worked at the Waltham Watch Factory and at the Walter E. Fernald School. The wife of the late Charles P. Scafidi, she leaves her children, Karen R. Cavicchi of Waltham, Lester C. Scafidi of Orange and Norman D. Scafidi and his wife Leanne M. of Tewskbury; her grandchildren, Matthew W. Cavicchi, Jennifer K. Welz and her husband Jay, Shaun F., Jeremy C., Michael P. and Sarah M. Scafidi; one great-grandchild, Anthony C. Cavicchi; one brother, Norman Dube of Waltham, one sister, Janet Gustafson of Harvard and many nieces and nephews. She was also a sister of the late Paul and Philip Dube. The Funeral will be held at 8 a.m. Monday from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Luke’s Church, 132 Lexington Street, Belmont at 9 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Donations in Rita’s memory to the American Heart Association, 20 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701 would be appreciated.
