Richard J. Trimble

July 10, 1931 — February 11, 2022

Waltham – Mr. Richard J. Trimble, of Waltham, died Friday, February 11, 2022 at Belmont Manor Nursing Home following a period of declining health. He was 90.

Dick was born on July 10, 1931 in Floral Park, Long Island, New York, a son of the late William and Agnes (Kelley) Trimble and moved to Boston with his family as a child. He was raised in Medford and in Somerville and was a 1949 graduate of Somerville High School.

He served as a medic with the U.S. Army's 40th Infantry Division in Korea during the Korean War.

A year after he came home he married his sweetheart, Mary F. McCormick, in Saint Catherine's Church in Somerville on September 3, 1955. Shortly thereafter they moved to Our Lady's Parish in Waltham where they became lifelong residents.

At around the same time Dick went to work for the Star Market Company and spent a forty-four year career as a meat manager in several of their stores.

He leaves his beloved wife, Mary F. (McCormick) Trimble; his children, Richard J. Trimble, M.D. of Eastham, Susan F. Cormier (Peter) of Chelmsford, Robert J. Trimble (Kathleen McGill) of Watertown, Brian F. Trimble of Burlington and Maureen P. Chafe (Gregory) of Newton, New Hampshire; his grandchildren, Peter Cormier, Jacqueline Brush (Peter), Brian Cormier (Brianna) and Christopher, Kevin, Cormick and Kaylyn Powers; his great-grandchildren, Peter, III, Charles and Caroline Brush and several nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late William Trimble.

Family and friends will honor and remember Dick's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Wednesday, February 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Thursday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Saint Joseph's Cemetery, West Roxbury.
