Richard T. Mullen

d. March 19, 2021

Ellington, Conn. – Mr. Richard T. Mullen, of Ellington, formerly of Waltham, died Friday, March 19, 2021 at Saint Francis Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut. He was 85.

Born in Waltham, Dick was a son of the late Thomas J. and Winifred Mullen. He was a graduate of the nation's oldest private military college, Norwich University, and his love for his Norwich family was only second to the love of his life, Elaine (Wilson) Mullen, who predeceased him in 1992.

He had lived in Waltham, Lebanon, New Hampshire, and Amherst, New Hampshire, until his retirement after a long career in the building materials industry. In his later years, Dick moved to Ellington, Connecticut. With his grounding presence, his family always turned to him for advice and reassurance.

He leaves his cherished children, Rick Mullen and his wife Ann, Judi Rhoades and her husband Phil, Scott Mullen and his wife Missy, Gale Tobin and Geoff Mullen. He also leaves his adoring 12 grandchildren who made him very proud, and his brothers and sisters, Dave Mullen and his wife Cathy, Burt Mullen and his wife Peggy, Carole Ripley and her husband Barry, Donna Mullen, and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, March 29, 2021 at 11 a.m. in Christ Church, 750 Main Street, Waltham. Burial will follow in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.

Donations may be made to the Mullen Family Scholarship Fund at Norwich University, 158 Harmon Drive, Northfield, Vermont 05663.
