Richard Kennian

Mr. Richard Kennian, of Walpole, died Thursday, April 20, 2023 in Norwood Healthcare Center. He was 92.

Richard was born on June 7, 1930 in Boston a son of the late Armenian immigrants Frank and Annie (Najarian) Kennian. A graduate of Medford High School he then earned his Bachelor’s degree from Northeastern University in 1953 and later his Master’s in Business Administration in 1970 from Northeastern as well. Dick served in United States Army during the Korean War.

He married Arlene M. Steede on August 28, 1971 in Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church and they made Norwood their home for six years before moving to Walpole since 1977.

Dick worked over thirty years as an inventory planning for Foxboro Company, retiring in 1995.

As a young boy he played the accordion and while in the army his trade was fixing wrist watches…something that stayed with him as a hobby throughout his life. He and Arlene enjoyed and travelled extensively.

In addition to his wife of 51 years, Arlene, he leaves his sister, Norma Megerdichian of Dedham; nieces & nephews, Stephen Megerdichian (Sosie) and Lori Krikorian, John Considine (Melissa), Lynne Considine (Judy Bergdorf), Sabina Steede (Victor Bradley), Dawn Orvis (Paul), Erin Vasington (Paul), Heather Steede,  Shannon Steede, Colleen Considine and the late Scott Considine; many great-nieces & great-nephews; his brother-in-law, Donald Steede of Yarmouthport.

Family and friends will honor and remember Dick’s life by gathering for a calling hour from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 4th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by his funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
