Richard F. Hanlon, of Waltham, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at Marist Hill Nursing Home in Waltham. He was 68.
Born on February 5, 1958, in Newton, Richard was the son of Ann (Burley) Hanlon of Waltham and the late Robert Hanlon, Sr. He grew up in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School. He went on to earn his associate’s degree at Mass Bay Community College in Wellesley and for many years, Richard worked as an office assistant at his uncle's company, Suburban Supply in Walpole.
Richard cherished time with his family above all else. When they were younger, the family traveled often, and one of their favorite traditions was driving to Florida for Christmas vacation. He loved boating and found great joy being out on the water. He also loved spending time at the family home on Cape Cod and enjoyed working alongside his father on building projects and around the houses his dad built.
Richard leaves behind his mother, Ann (Burley) Hanlon of Waltham; his sister, Mary Samsen Hanlon and her family; his brothers, John Hanlon and his wife Caroline and family, Paul Hanlon and his wife Kristen and family, and James Hanlon and his wife Cheryl and family; and many nieces and nephews whom he adored.
In addition to his father Robert Hanlon, Sr., Richard was predeceased by his brother, Robert Hanlon Jr., in 1978.
Services for Richard will be held privately.
