Ralph E. Silver

August 26, 1931 — March 7, 2020

Mr. Ralph E. Silver, Jr., of Waltham, died on Saturday, March 7, 2020 in the Beaumont Skilled Nursing Center of Northbridge. He was 88 years old.

Ralph was born in Boston on August 26, 1931, the son of the late Ralph E. and Agnes V. (Buldoc) Silver. During the Korean Conflict he proudly served in the Navy aboard the U.S.S. Pittsburgh. Until his retirement he had worked as a custodian for the Lincoln Public School System.

Ralph was a devout Catholic and found great solace and peace in his home parish of Saint Mary's in Waltham. He enjoyed the simple things in life; a day fishing on the water, time spent working on his multiple gardens, a good mystery novel and always a cup of coffee with his newspaper to start the day. Most important to Ralph was time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Ralph was the beloved husband of the late Frances I. (McLaughlin) Silver and is survived by his daughters, Patricia Shea (Jack) of Marshfield, Cheryl Zammuto (Ronald) of Mendon and Susan Irwin (Robert) of Freetown; his grandchildren, Michael and Stephen Mau, Mark Mankus, Robert and Gregory Zammuto and Kristyn and Stacey Rotchford; his great-grandchildren, Michael and James Mau, Robert Rotchford and Molly Zammuto; his siblings, Edwin Silver of Hopkinton and Jean Hubbard of Texas and also leaves many nieces and nephews.

He was also the brother of the late Agnes Doyle and Barbara Cappola.

Funeral services are private.

Memorial donations may be made to The American Cancer Society, 3 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
