Quincy - Paulette M. Flynn died peacefully with family at her side on Friday, May 15, 2026, in Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. She was 71.
Paulette was born September 28, 1954 in Boston, a daughter of the late Daniel B. and Helen C. (Long) Flynn. Raised in Brockton, she graduated from Brockton High School with the class of 1973 and earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Northeastern University. Paulette made her home in Quincy in 1998.
For more than 40 years, she dedicated her career to serving children and families as the Children Service Coordinator for the Department of Developmental Services in the Brockton office. Each day, she worked with unwavering commitment, striving to make a meaningful impact and change the path of the children and families entrusted to her care.
A lifelong follower of politics, she poured her passion into numerous Democratic campaigns at both the local and state levels, always believing in the power of civic engagement and community service.
She cherished the quiet joy of a good book, the warmth of holidays spent surrounded by family, and the irreplaceable company of her cousins and friends. Paulette never arrived empty handed, often delighting loved ones with treats from her favorite bakeries, a simple gesture that reflected her thoughtfulness and generosity. Her life was defined by compassion, dedication, and a deep love for the people around her. Paulette lived quietly with the effects of Multiple Sclerosis for more than 40 years, meeting each day with grace and never a word of complaint.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brothers, Daniel B. Flynn and Arthur L. Flynn; her nephew, Brian S. Flynn and cousins Robert Flynn and Billy Jennings;
She leaves her brothers, Clifford C. Flynn (Mary Beth) of Hanover and Edward G. Flynn (Susan) of Sandwich; her sisters-in-law, Virginia Flynn of Milton, widow of her late brother Daniel, and Jeanne Flynn of Bourne, widow of her late brother Arthur; nieces and nephews, Christian Flynn, Sara Lane, Diane Flynn-Butler, John Flynn, Anne O’Shea, Clifford Flynn II, Jessica Flynn, Jean Flynn; her great-nieces, great-nephews, Kirstyn Frazier, Zachary Kasper, Nathan Flynn, John Butler, Gregory Lane, Daniel O’Shea, Derrick Schutt-Flynn, Lily Lane, Liam Butler, Molly O’Shea, Arianna Flynn, Sean Lane, Morgan Flynn, Lennie Taylor IV, Ava Gifford; many great-great nieces and nephews; her cousins Joanne McFarland, Carol Flynn and her close friend Rochelle LaCouture Yuknis.
Family and friends will honor and remember Paulette's life by gathering for a Morning Wake on Thursday, May 21 from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 386 Hancock Street, Quincy followed by her funeral Mass celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery, West Roxbury.
