Paul W. Keating

January 22, 1925 — November 14, 2025

Belmont

Mr. Paul W. Keating, of Belmont, died Friday, November 14, 2025, surrounded by family at his son’s home in Yarmouth. He was 100.

Paul was born in Arlington on January 22, 1925, a son of the late Edward and Gladys (Slack) Keating. He grew up in Arlington and graduated from Arlington High School.

Paul was a World War II veteran, serving his country in the United States Army Air Corps from 1943 to 1946. After the war, he worked at Boston Metal Door in Cambridge before starting his own company in 1970, Parker Co. in Andover, manufacturing industrial fire doors. He later went back to school to further his education and graduated from Northeastern University in 1981.

Paul married Mary E. (Coyne) Keating on May 16, 1953. In their later years, they traveled to places like Ireland, Hawaii, and even Mali, Africa, to visit their son Brian in the Peace Corps. Paul had a pilot’s license and once took the kids flying, sharing his love for the skies. He was a lifelong handyman who could fix anything; electrical, plumbing, carpentry; and always enjoyed sharing these skills to help others. As a young man, he worked at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institute, a place he always held dear, and throughout his life he enjoyed visiting the museum with his family to share his interest in their work. He treasured spending time on the Cape and was the devoted caretaker for his wife prior to her passing in 2006.

A quiet, standup guy with a kind heart, Paul valued hard work, cherished simple joys and the people around him; nothing meant more to him than family.

He was the husband of the late Mary E. (Coyne) Keating, and leaves his six sons, Paul W. Keating, Jr., and his wife, Virginia, of Waltham, Edward V. Keating and his wife, Marianne, of Amherst, NH, John G. Keating and his wife, Toni Tugenberg, of Belmont, Brian J. Keating of Pepperell, James M. Keating of Hyannis, and Gregory F. Keating and his wife, Kristin, of Sandwich; his grandchildren, Paul W. Keating III (Kelly Thomas), Christopher R. Keating (Danielle), William J. Keating (Nikki Roche), Edward V. Keating V, Jennifer M. Mertes (Ben), Erin M. Worth (Kyle), Michael P. Keating (Lindsay), Conor M. Keating (Brooke), and Gregory M. Keating; 16 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late Edward Keating, Phyllis Crawford, Gladys Mulloney, and Evelyn Keating Cox.
