Waltham- Mr. Paul F. Bergin of Waltham died Sunday August 31, 2003 in his home. He was 83. Born and raised in Waltham, a son of the late Thomas and Annie (Rourke) Bergin, he lived in Auburndale for 38 years before moving back to Waltham in 1995. Mr. Bergin was the Owner of Paul F. Bergin Real Estate in Waltham for the past twenty five years. Mr. Bergin also worked for 30 years at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford as an Air Traffic Controller before he retired in 1975. He was a member of the Joseph F. Hill American Legion Post # 156 in Waltham, a former member of the Waltham Knights of Columbus and a 1939 graduate of Saint Mary’s High School. Mr. Bergin was a World War II veteran serving in the United States Air Force where he received the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal, the Air Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Theatre Campaign Ribbon with two Battle Stars. Mr. Bergin was the brother of the late Francis T. Bergin, Louise Bergin, Thomas Bergin, Edward Bergin, Joseph Bergin, Margaret Bergin and Mary Collins. He is survived by his wife Jane V. (McNamara) Bergin, his children Mark P. Bergin and his wife Joanne, Stephen T. Bergin and his wife Jan, and Polly A. Abbruzzese and her husband Michael all of Natick, Denise M. Visco and her husband Jay of Waltham and Mary Jane Barr and her husband Frederick of Auburndale; ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte.20) Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Mary’s Church, 133 School Street, Waltham at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham. Visiting hours are Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Donation’s in Paul’s memory made to HalthCare Dimensions 764 Main Street, Waltham, MA 02451 or to Dana–Farber’s Jimmy Fund Tribute Program, 1 Harvard Street, Boston, MA, 02146 would be appreciated.
