Auburndale - Mrs. Patricia A. (Taft) Murphy died at home on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 after a battle with Corticobasal Degeneration. She was 75.

Patricia was born March 31, 1948 in Holyoke a daughter of the late Bernard J. and Frances A. (Finnerty) Taft. Raised in Holyoke she graduated from Holyoke High School and then earned her Bachelor’s degree from Regis College. She married Kevan G. Murphy on May 31, 1986 in Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Newton where they remained residents.

She began her professional career as a languages teacher at Arlington Catholic High School where she taught both French and Spanish. She then changed career paths and worked as a medical technologist in the laboratories at Waltham Hospital and later at Winchester Hospital.

Pat loved the color green, her cats, Tilly and Cleo, the Red Sox, Cape Cod, music, and going out to dinner. She loved to laugh and loved to make everyone around her happy.

She leaves her husband of 37 years, Kevan G. Murphy; her son, Matthew S. Murphy and his wife, Jenni, all of Newton; her sister, Frances Taft of Riverside, Rhode Island and the late Bernard J. Taft III; sister-in-law of Shannon Magee and her husband, Richard of Waltham; aunt of Bernard Taft IV, Nicole Taft, Desiree, David and Justin Letellier; and her two feline friends, 'Tilly and Cleo'.

Family and friends will honor and remember Patricia’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, August 15th from 4 to 7 p.m. A graveside service will be held Wednesday in Calvary Cemetery, 250 High Street, Waltham at 11 a.m.
