Nicola Marinaro, 95, of Waltham, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday, June 4, 2025 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 14, 1929 in Castelgrande, Italy to Antonio and Anna (Lariccia) Marinaro. He and his family moved to the United States in 1964 and settled in Waltham where they became lifelong residents.
Nicola worked for years as a stone mason and became a master at his craft. His strong will and his strong back kept him working long after retirement age. His devotion and his loyalty to his family were unrivaled.
Yearly summer trips home to Castelgrande created some of the best memories for his children and his grandchildren. It was there that he re-united with his family in Italy and recalled stories from his past. He could often be found taking long walks daily and playing a hand of cards with his buddies.
He leaves his wife of seventy years, Anna (Cianci) Marinaro; his children, Anna McKeon (Brian) of Lexington, Carmela Haque (Rizwan) of Waltham, Silvanna Pascucci (Christopher) of Oyster Bay, New York and Lisa Marie Smith (Mark Tripp) of Sudbury; his grandchildren, Amanda Choi (William), Alexandra McKeon, Nasira Ewing (John), Imran Haque (Lynn), Nadeem Haque (Peter Glennon), Olivia Pascucci-Ramirez (Edwin), Nicholas Pascucci, Isabella Crawford (John), Joseph Pascucci, Alexander Smith, Christian Smith and Benjamin Smith; his great-grandchildren, Felicity Choi, James and Lily Ewing, Everly and Adison Haque and Luca and Theo Ramirez; his sisters and brother, Teresa Tarallo, Mario Marinaro, Agnes Loi, Sara Marinaro and many nieces, nephews and their families.
Nicola was also a brother of the late Donato Marinaro and Ernesto Marinaro.
Family and friends will honor and remember Nicola's life by gathering for an Afternoon Wake on Sunday, June 8th from 3 to 5 p.m. in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Steet (Rte.20), Waltham and again at 9:30 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Waltham.
