Mrs. Nancy L. (Perry) Gilchrist, of Waltham, died on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Newton-Wellesley Hospital.

A lifelong Waltham resident, Nancy was the daughter of the late Carman and Margaret (Powers) Perry. She was a graduate of Waltham High School.  For years she worked for the Department of Homeland Security as a secretary to the U.S. Coast Guard admiral responsible for the New England area.

Nancy loved spending time with her family and made many happy memories camping with them throughout the region . . . one of her favorite destinations was Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park.

She was the beloved wife of Steven R. Gilchrist, Sr.; mother of Robert M. Kiley of Acton and Steven R. Gilchrist, Jr. of Waltham and sister of Carman “Sonny” Perry of Waltham.  She also leaves several nieces, nephews and their families.

Nancy was also the sister of the late Robert and Thomas Perry.

Family and friends will honor and remember Nancy’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, April 25th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
