Nancy Ruth Foster, formerly of Weston, died peacefully at the Artis Community in Reading, MA surrounded by family and hospice caregivers on Sunday, June 18, 2023 after a lengthy battle with Vascular Dementia.

She was the older child of Asa B. Foster Sr. and Ruth W. Foster each of whom preceded her in death. She is survived by her brother, Asa B. Foster Jr. his wife, Susan; her nephew Asa B. Foster III; her step-brother, Russell B. Higley and step-sister Sally Yarworth; also survived by numerous cousins.

Nancy grew up in Weston, Massachusetts and graduated from Weston High School with class of 1958. She received her Associates Degree from Westbrook Junior College in 1960. She attended Boston University School of Journalism and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University Of Colorado School Of Journalism.

Nancy was a gifted writer and wrote for the Weston Town Crier, Waltham News Tribune, Boston Globe and the Denver Post. She was a dedicated server in Big Sister programs in the Boston area and worked with underserved children for many years in Denver.

An avid traveler she never passed up an opportunity to explore new venues. She traveled to six continents and was ever in search of her next adventure. Wherever she lived she made fast, enduring friendships. She lit up a room with her infectious smile and would befriend all whom would be her friend. Nancy was an animal lover and throughout her adult life she was the ‘mother’ to numerous Dogs & Cats who were a great joy to her. She never lost touch with her home town of Weston, MA. She was responsible for keeping her class of 1958 together and organized their 5 year reunions until 2013. Her classmates expressed their gratitude by having a bench named in her honor outside the newly renovated Weston Arts Center.

Nancy will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her. She was truly one of a kind.
