Nancy M. Condon

July 16, 1941 — December 4, 2022

Waltham

Nancy M (Pettengill) Condon, of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 4, 2022 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 81.

Daughter of the late Horace E. Jr. and Margaret E. (Flynn) Pettengill, Nancy was the youngest of three children. She grew up in Watertown and graduated from Watertown High School in 1959. The majority of her career was at Baybank, before it became Bank of America, as a customer service manager. After retirement she enjoyed working with children at the after school program at Our Lady’s School, where she and Ray were members of the Our Lady’s Church community for almost 60 years.

Nancy married Raymond F. Condon on October 7, 1961 and moved to Waltham where they raised their family. They had four children, nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. They remained in Waltham until Ray’s passing on December 24, 2021.

Nancy moved to Northborough to be closer to family and eventually moved to The Coleman House in Northborough where she quickly became known as “Sweet Nancy”, always smiling, hugging and showing affection to fellow residents and her wonderful caregivers. Nancy’s family is forever grateful for the care she received at Coleman House.

Nancy will be most fondly remembered by her family as the one who would light up when you walked into a room, the one who would clap and cheer when she heard you coming through the front door for a visit, the one who hugged you with all her heart and who would stand at the door and wave you goodbye until your car drove out of sight.

As Nancy’s disease progressed and names and words were harder to come by, anyone who visited with her could still count on her enthusiasm. Her face would always light up and a smile was always on her face. When she could, she would shout to anyone around her that her family was there. The excitement was contagious.

Nancy was the mother of Kathleen Burns (David) of Northborough, John Condon (Bethany) of Waltham, Carolyn Polidor (David) of East Sandwich and Jennifer Cacciatore (Paul) of Northborough. She was the most special grandmother to Kaleigh Ogawa (Junki), Sean Burns (Shannon), Julia and Catherine Condon, Nicholas, Jeffrey, and Michael Polidor and Owen and Christopher Cacciatore. She was also the Great Grandmother to the most precious little boy, Henry Ogawa. Nancy is also survived by her wonderful brother Douglas Pettengill and his wife Joanne, her sister in law Ann Condon and her dearest friend, Janice Barry.

She was greeted in heaven by the love of her life, Raymond Condon, as well as many family and friends including her sister Shirley Ring (Matthew), her brothers in law David Condon (Doris), and Richard Condon, her sisters in law Marie Fitzgerald (Everett), Edith Stevens (William) and Mary Cieslik (Richard). She will also be fondly remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends who had the pleasure of having her in their lives
