Michael Lusignan

August 15, 1949 — January 21, 2024

Shrewsbury, MA

Shrewsbury - Michael Paul Lusignan, 74, of West Boylston, MA, formerly of Shrewsbury, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 21, 2024, after a period of declining health.

Michael was born on August 15, 1949, in Worcester, MA, the eldest son of the late Paul and Louisa (Ashton) Lusignan. Raised in Shrewsbury, MA, he was a graduate of Shrewsbury High School before attending Dean College and eventually graduating with his Bachelor’s degree from Springfield College.  He also took post-graduate education courses at Columbia University.

He loved sports, physical fitness and just about anything that was competitive (including watching Jeopardy).  Michael was a standout athlete and played football in high school as well as college, but also loved hockey, basketball and baseball.  He inevitably turned his passion for fitness into a career as a Physical Therapist, beginning with home healthcare before moving into leadership roles at Memorial Hospital and Fallon Health.  He finished his career as it began, in home healthcare with the VNA.  Michael was an avid reader, lifetime learner and was fascinated by the principles of leadership and high-performing teams.  In his later years, he enjoyed spending time outdoors and gardening in his backyard.

Most importantly, Michael prioritized time spent with those he loved, including his long-time partner and best friend, Dawn Guarino, his three children, three grandchildren, siblings and extended family.

In addition to his partner Dawn (Ward) Guarino, Michael leaves his children, Aimee (Lusignan) Watkins and her husband, William, of Sterling, MA, Andrew M. Lusignan and his wife, Michelle, of Merrimack, NH, the late Gregory J. (“Ice”) Lusignan of Shrewsbury, MA; his grandchildren, Tanner Watkins, Tucker Watkins and Olivia Lusignan; his siblings, Anne Prensner (Robert) of Wellesley, MA, Peter Lusignan of Florence, MA, Stephen Lusignan of Worcester, MA, Barbara Dion (late Tom) of West Boylston, MA and Carol Chung (Michael) of Nyack, New York; many nieces & nephews, members of Dawn’s family and a host of friends.

Family and friends will honor and remember Michael's life by gathering for calling hours on Sunday, January 28th Cyprian Keyes Golf Club, 284 East Temple Street, Boylston from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. followed by a service at 4:00 p.m. Rev. Cynthia Maybeck will officiate. A private family burial will be Monday in Mountain View Cemetery, Shrewsbury.

Expressions of sympathy may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive | Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215 or https://www.childrenshospital.org/
