Michael 'Einne' Conneely

Michael 'Einne' Conneely, of Waltham, died Thursday May 28, 2026 at his home. He was 54.

Einne was born in Galway, Ireland on November 18, 1971, a son of the late Michael and Marie (Cullinan) Conneely. He was a lifelong resident of the Aran Islands, a proud bastion of Gaelic language and culture, located off the west coast of Ireland.

Since the age of 14 Einne worked as a commercial fisherman in Ireland and after his move to the States almost twenty-five years ago worked on a midwater trawler out of Gloucester. He also worked at the Home Depot in Waltham, where the people he worked with became fast friends.

He was a student of history and loved the outdoors, especially family trips to Fryeburg, Maine.

He leaves his wife, Meghan (McMenimen) Conneely; his children, Michael, Cian and Fiona Conneely; his brothers and sister, Rory, Aonghus, Cathal and Sinead Conneely all of the Aran Islands; his mother-in-law, Kathleen McMenimen of Waltham and his stepmother-in-law, Karen McMenimen of Maine.

Einne was also a brother of the late Proinsias Conneely.

Family and friends will honor and remember Einne's life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, June 5th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning before leaving in procession to Our Lady Comforter of the Afflicted Church, 880 Trapelo Road, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial in Fryeburg, Maine will be held at a later date.
