Maureen E. (Moran) Daniels

Maureen E. (Moran) Daniels of Hyannis, formerly of Waltham, died Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at Miriam Boyd Parlin Hospice Residence in Wayland surrounded by her three sons.. She was 81.

Born in Waltham on September 14, 1943, Maureen was the beloved daughter of the late John and Catherine (O’Malley) Moran. She was raised in Waltham and graduated from Rosary Academy in Watertown.

One of her first jobs was at Metropolitan State Hospital, working in the pharmacy and answering phones. It was here that she met the love of her life, Paul Daniels. They started their life together and raised their family in Waltham. She also worked at Stop & Shop on Lexington Street, Hewlett Packard, and lastly, DCU Credit Union before her retirement.

Maureen enjoyed summer vacations on Cape Cod and winter escapes to Florida. Sunday dinners with her loved ones were a treasured tradition. She was skilled at candlepin bowling; with trophies to prove it, loved Irish music and dancing; especially at weddings, was a faithful walker; which cleared her mind and often sparked big ideas, and was a devoted fan of Wheel of Fortune, but nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her grandchildren, and she loved that she could keep up with the goings-on of her family through Facebook.

The wife of the late Paul W. Daniels, she leaves her children Mark Daniels (Laura) of Chelmsford, Paul Daniels of Westminster, Colorado, and John Daniels (Karen) of Bedford; her grandchildren, Matthew (Emily), Adam (Danielle), Ryan (Victoria), and Sydney; her niece, Barbara Spillane of Medfield, along with many nieces and nephews and their families.

Maureen was also the sister of the late Lorraine Croft and Katherine Leach.

Family and friends will honor and remember Maureen’s life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Monday, June 16, from 4 to 7 PM and again on Tuesday morning, when her funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
