Mary Leona Murphy Of Newton and Humarock, passed away peacefully at home on February 8th, at age 86. She was born in Boston on July 3, 1939 to the late William P. and Geraldine A. Riley.
Mary graduated from Malden High School in Malden, MA. She was a full-time, stay-at-home mother and later, the office manager for the family business.
Mary, a devoted Catholic, was a kind and loving person who was always helping others. She was a religious education teacher and Eucharistic Minister for years offering her time and support to members of her church. She was also a devoted and thoughtful friend with many life-long friendships.
Mary was a voracious reader and was never without a pile of books by her side or a book recommendation. The Friendship Book Club of Newton Corner provided 50 years of friends, books, and quilting. An avid baker, Mary made fresh muffins and cookies daily to the delight of her family. An eternal student, she was always picking a new subject to study. She was a talented piano player and a passionate gardener. Mary loved spending time with her Humarock friends in the summer. She especially loved her July 3rd birthday celebrations surrounded by her family and friends.
Beloved wife of Kevin P. Murphy for 60 years. Mary is survived by her three children: Margaret (Mark) Corsino of Burlington, MA; Kevin Jr. (Pamela) Murphy of Marshfield, MA; and Caitlin (Michael) O’Kane of Watertown, MA. Proud grandmother of Gabriella and Cameron Corsino, Emma and Grace Murphy, and Conor O'Kane. Sister of Norman Riley of Portsmouth, NH, and Eileen Riley of Pleasant Hills, CA. Predeceased by her sister Ann Louis Riley-Ellis. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Our family would like to thank our parents' aide, Isaac Anning, for his amazing attentive care and love for our mother. And also the loving care of KRS Senior Care Services.
