Mark E. Cullen

October 31, 1965 — May 28, 2023

Norwood

Mr. Mark E. Cullen, of Norwood, formerly of Watertown, died Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Spaulding Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Brighton following a period of declining health.  He was 57.

Mark was born in Boston on October 31, 1965, a son of the late Edward J. and Bette A. (Forte) Cullen. A graduate of Watertown High School, he had lived in the town for most of his life before moving to Norwood.

Mark will long be remembered by his family as being warm, loving, kind and grateful.  Mark’s sisters describe him as ‘pure love’ . . . his family meant the world to him and he made everyone around him better.  Mark was strong and fiercely loyal and mindful of the joy that others brought into his life . . . every meal was “excellent” . . . and he was always “doing good”.  Mark was the very rare person who never uttered a complaint or said a bad word about anyone . . . strong, faithful and loving until the end.

In addition to the joy that his family brought to him he cherished thirty years of summer vacations to Point Sebago in Maine, professional wrestling matches and Elvis Presley . . . whose quivering lip Mark could imitate with great alacrity.

He leaves his sisters, Donna Cullen of Florida, Darlene Cullen of Watertown, Karen Lopez (James) of Norwood and Kathleen Cullen Cote (Steve) of Harwich; his brother-in-law, Matthew Roy (Laurie); his nieces and nephews, Michelle Bowen, Cheryl Cota, Anthony Cota, Paul Lopez, Brian Lopez, Anthony Lopez, Sabrina Roy, Matthew Roy and Michael Roy and many grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to his parents, Mark joins his nephew, James Lopez, Jr., in heaven.

Family and friends will honor and remember Mark’s life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Sunday, June 4th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Monday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick’s Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m.  Burial will be in Ridgelawn Cemetery, Watertown.
