Waltham – Marie L. (LeBlanc) Doucet died Monday, September 18, 2023 in Meadow Green Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a brief period of failing health. She was 90.

Marie L. LeBlanc was born in Margaree, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia on the family farm on January 21, 1933 one of ten children to the late Pierre and Ann (Muise) LeBlanc. She met the love of her life Norman C. Doucet and later married on his 21st birthday, September 25, 1957 in St. Pierre’s Parish in Cheticamp, Nova Scotia, Canada. They spent sixty-five years together until his death on December 24, 2022.

Marie tended to her four children in Nova Scotia, while Norman went to Waltham to start a new life for their family. She and the children later immigrated to the United States in 1965. She was a stay at home mom who loved to cook her native and authentic Canadian dishes and was involved in the many activities at the French American Club. As their children grew older, she took on various jobs, such as cleaning the rectory at St. Joseph’s Parish and caring for the elderly in various capacities.

She was kind, humble and a dear friend to all who knew her. Marie loved to dance and listen to the fiddle music of her youth. She retained her French Acadian heritage and loved to talk on the phone with many of her relatives, always concerned about everyone but herself. She loved to play cards or gather with friends and family and made many trips to Canada during the summer months to visit relatives and be at home in her native land.

In addition to her husband, Norman, she is predeceased by her siblings, William, Alexander, Patrick and Clarence LeBlanc, Anna Mae Aucoin and Margaret Richard.

She leaves her children, Bernice Burgoyne and her husband James, Sr. of Nashua New Hampshire, Joseph B. ‘Bernie’ Doucet and his partner, Anne Batherson of Lynn, Simon Doucet of Waltham and Rita Gelinas and her husband, Jack of Holliston; her siblings, Rita LeBlanc and Helen Chiasson, both of Waltham and John LeBlanc of Nova Scotia, Canada; her grandchildren James Burgoyne Jr. and his wife, Meghan of Brookline, NH and Rhyan Gelinas and his wife, Angela, all of Brookline, MA; her great-grandchildren Ethan and Bennett Burgoyne; nieces & nephews.
