Born on December 14, 1932, in Boston, Margaret was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Jesson) Tello. She was born and raised in Boston’s North End and married Ferrante M. DiStefano at St. Leonard’s Church on August 17, 1951. A devoted wife and amazing mother to her twelve children, Margaret dedicated her life to her family, creating a warm and loving home for her husband and children.
She is survived by her ten loving children, Salvatore DiStefano (Karen) of Sudbury; Elizabeth Judd (Robert) of Wells, Maine; Frederick D. DiStefano (Rosa) of Lexington; Peter D. DiStefano (Maria) of Francestown, New Hampshire; Paul D. DiStefano (Lucie) of Maynard; Richard DiStefano of Franklin; Robert D. DiStefano (Cathy) of Concord; Marie Collins (David) of Waltham; Joseph DiStefano (Lisa) of Bolton; and Dino DiStefano of Boston. She was the cherished grandmother of 27 grandchildren, great-grandmother of 58 great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandmother of 4 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Ferrante M. DiStefano, Margaret was also predeceased by her sons, John DiStefano and Joey DiStefano; her brothers, the late Joseph, George, Domenic, and William Tello, and sisters, Vickie Auciello and Kathleen Libertini.
Family and friends will honor and remember Margaret’s life by gathering for an Evening Wake at the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street, Waltham, on Friday, May 1, 2026, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again on Saturday Morning, May 2, 2026, beginning at 8 a.m., prior to leaving in procession to Saint Mary Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge.
In honor of her love for fashion and flair, guests are invited to celebrate her life by wearing their best glam—think glitter, gold, and a touch of sparkle, just as she would have loved.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Presentation Rehabilitation and Skilled Care Center for their compassionate care.
