Mr. Lawrence H. Guerin Jr., of West Newton, died Tuesday, November 29, 2022 in Care One Healthcare in Newton. He was 86.
Larry was born on May 27, 1936 in Waltham a son of the late Lawrence H. and Johanna (Stringello) Guerin. Raised in Waltham he was a graduate of Waltham Trade High School and then entered the Navy serving during the Korean War.
He worked as a carpenter for the City of Waltham for over forty years.
A skilled carpenter he enjoyed woodworking and his finish work was impeccable. He had the gift to gab and enjoyed good conversations with friends and family. Larry loved the game of golf and belonged to the Bee Club in Wexford, Ireland as well as playing locally as often as he could. With a passion for boating and sailing he was also a member of the Watertown Yacht Club in member of the John F. Sullivan VFW Post 10334. Larry loved the outdoors, hunting, soap box derbies and animals.
He married Ann O’Kelly on January 3, 1993 in Our Lady Helps of Christians Church in Newton.
In addition to Ann he leaves a son, Leonard Guerin of Las Vegas, Nevada; two step-daughters, Tanya Page of Melbourne, Australia and Niamh Page of Wexford, Ireland; grandchildren, Saoirse, Nicholas, Lucas, Elijah, Eric and Justin, Shawn and Jennifer; siblings, Robert Guerin of Clinton, Mary Hannifan of Waltham, Lorraine Mennero of Maynard, Pauline Cautmer of Mississippi and Kathleen Ricci of Merrimac and the late John Guerin, Joan Marie Ercolani and Annette Tuminelli; in-laws, Emer Mezzetti (Liam) of Newton, Brid Donnelly of Kildare, Ireland, Catriona McDonough (Jimmy) of Dublin, Ireland, Ian Kelly (Ann) of Dublin and the late Moya Nolan; nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember Larry's life by gathering to visit at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 6th 2022 in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rt. 20) Waltham, followed by his funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial is private.
