Lawrence J. Gentile, of Framingham, and formerly of Belmont, Ashland and Marlborough, died Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at Framingham Union Hospital with his family by his side. He was 79.
Larry was born in Newton on June 25, 1945, a son of the late Daniel and Laura (Bertrand) Gentile and was raised in Watertown. After graduating from Watertown High School Larry served with the United States Army during the early years of the Vietnam War.
Larry worked for a number of years as a supervisor at Haemonetics, a global medical technology company, and at Cambridge Memories and at Data General.
Always skilled at problem solving and fixing things he also operated his own business installing and repairing conveyor equipment. His specialized skill kept him busy with customers throughout New England.
When he wasn’t working, Larry loved to fish. He spent countless hours casting his line, often with his buddy and brother-in-law, the late Dom DeAngelis, by his side. Fishing trips to Plum Island were favored and frequent.
He leaves his children, Lawrence J. Gentile, Jr. (Phyllis) of Bellingham, Shaun L. Gentile of Framingham and Lyndsey Gentile-McGauley (Sean) of Douglas; his grandson, Timothy Shane Corcoran, his sister, Jeanne DeAngelis of West Newton and several nieces, nephews and their families.
Larry was also the father of the late Lisa Gentile and brother of the late Jeannette Gallagher and Robert Gentile, Sr.
Family and friends will honor and remember Larry's life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Monday, May 5th, from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Tuesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick's Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Saint Tarcisius Cemetery, Framingham.
