Laurie Melanson

June 8, 1943 — September 12, 2025

Milford

Mr. Laurie Melanson, of Milford, formerly of Waltham, died Friday, September 12, 2025 at CareOne in Newton following a period of declining health. He was 82.

Laurie was born on June 8, 1943 in Memramcook, New Brunswick, a son of the late Leo and Melanie (Allain) Melanson, and came to the States in 1961. In April, 1964 he married the love of his life, Theresa Babin, and the pair made Waltham their lifelong home before moving to Milford.

An expert carpenter, Laurie belonged to Local 43 of the Carpenters Union in Newton. He was also a member of the French-American Victory Club in Waltham and became a devoted fan of the Boston Bruins.

Laurie loved being around his family. He was exceeding proud of ‘his girls’ and with the arrival of each grandchild and great-grandchild his smile grew wider. His sense of humor was unique and his laughter was contagious . . . story-telling was one of his greatest skills.

Every year he vacationed ‘back home’ in Grande-Digue, New Brunswick where he spent countless hours working his land by hand or on a bulldozer or surveilling his eighty acres on one of his trucks. It was the place where he found great peace, joy and refreshment.

In addition to his beloved wife of sixty-one years, Theresa, he leaves his children, Debbie Hebert (Roger) of Milford, Lisa Bates of Hopkinton and Brenda Marcou (Derek) of Naples, Florida; his grandchildren, Lauren Drago, Courtney Hauck, Jack, Kelsey, Mitch and Maddie Marcou and Darren Bates; his great-grandchildren, Emma and Ben Drago and Remi Hauck; his sisters, Aline Landry of Moncton, New Brunswick, Huberte Richard of Dieppe, New Brunswick, Lorraine Fagan and Yvonisse Boudreau, both of Waltham and Marie-Louise Bourque of Grande-Digue, New Brunswick and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Laurie was also the brother of the late Norman and Adrien Melanson.

Funeral services for Laurie will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 320 Nevada Street, Suite 201, Newton, MA 02460 or at https://www.alz.org/manh
