Josephine (Collura) Costello

Josephine “Josie” (Collura) Costello, of Naples, Florida, formerly of Sandwich and Waltham, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, at the age of 90, surrounded by loving family. She passed following complications from surgery. She was the wife of the late William J. Costello.

Born in Waltham, Massachusetts, on October 10, 1935, Josie was the fourth daughter of the late John and Ann (DiPietro) Collura. She was raised in a large, close-knit family, one of nine siblings: Peter, Frank, Sally, Rosie, Mary, Josie, Madeline, and the twins John and Ann. She is survived by her sisters, Mary Pavone and Ann Burke, as well as her brothers John and Frank Collura. Josie was predeceased by her infant son, Michael Patrick Daddona, and her siblings, Pete Collura, Sally Generoso, Rose Scafidi, and Madeline Albanese.

Family was central to her life, and she cherished sharing childhood stories and laughter with those she loved. She will be greatly missed by her many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Josie was a graduate of Waltham High School. In her early years, she devoted herself to raising her children. Later, she worked at the Massachusetts Laborers’ Union, Local 560, before retiring to Sandwich, Massachusetts, then to Naples, Florida. Josie resided in Florida for more than 40 years.

Josie was an exceptional Italian cook, well-known for her homemade sausage bread and Bolognese sauce. She loved to cook, entertain, and feed everyone around her. An avid reader, she also enjoyed playing Scrabble, Canasta, and card games with family and friends. Spending time with her siblings, cousins, children, grandchildren, and extended family was her greatest joy.

Josie is survived by her daughter, Theresa Arsenault, and her husband, Robert, of South Carolina; her son, John Daddona, Jr., and his wife, Paula, of Massachusetts; and her son, Mark Daddona, and his wife, Debra, of Florida. She also leaves her beloved grandchildren: Darren Arsenault of Hull, MA; Derek and Allison Arsenault of Hilton Head Island, SC; Michael and Victoria Daddona of Bourne; Emily Daddona of Bourne; and John Daddona III, all of Massachusetts. GG also leaves her cherished great-grandson, Luca, with another great-grandson expected this April.

A devout Catholic, Josie was deeply committed to her faith. She was an active member of her church community and volunteered with the Knights of Columbus.

Family and friends will honor and remember Josie’s life by gathering to visit in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 before leaving in procession to Sacred Heart Church, 311 River Street, Waltham where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Burial will be private.
