Joseph W. Quagliozzi, a beloved and lifelong resident of Waltham, MA, passed away peacefully on November 13, 2024, at the age of 93. Known to family and friends simply as “Joe,” he will be remembered for his warm heart, quick wit, and an infectious laugh that could light up any room.
Joe’s life was centered around his deep commitment to his family and the Waltham community he cherished. He was a proud graduate of Saint Mary’s High School, where he was a star athlete who led the St. Mary’s Varsity Basketball Team to numerous victories, preserving those fond memories in his well-loved scrapbooks. Soon after graduating, he married his high school sweetheart, Janice Isaacson , the love of his life. They shared over 62 beautiful years together, raising their family in a home on Upland Road, overlooking the city of Waltham that they both loved so dearly.
In his early years, Joe took over the family business, Spring Street Laundry, which was started by his father, Ginardo Joseph Quagliozzi. While he was known for his dedication and hard work, it was his generosity and kindness that made a lasting impression on everyone he met. Joe became a beloved figure in the neighborhood, where children would excitedly hop into the Spring Street Laundry delivery truck, knowing a fun day filled with treats and adventures awaited them.
Joe is survived by his devoted family: his son, Steven Quagliozzi, and wife Kristen of Plainville, MA; his daughter, Karen Quinn, and her late husband Michael of Harvard, MA; his sister, Carole Langley of Waltham; and sister-in-law, Diane Quagliozzi of Billerica. He was a proud grandfather to Ryan Quirk and his wife Nee, Emily Quirk and her partner Rick, Matthew Quagliozzi and his wife Jade, Julia Mancini and her husband Gus, Lily Quagliozzi, and Tess Quagliozzi. Joe’s legacy also lives on through his great-grandchildren, Chloe Mancini, Max Mancini, Finn Corcoran, and Ernest Quirk.
He was predeceased by his loving wife, Janice Isaacson; his parents, Ginardo Joseph Quagliozzi and Anna May (Aucoin); and his siblings, Ann Gentile, Marie Squires, and William “Billy” Quagliozzi.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham to honor Joe’s life during calling hours on Wednesday, November 20th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, November 21st, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a procession to Mount Feake Cemetery in Waltham for his burial.
Joe’s smile, his generous spirit, and his unwavering love for family and community will be dearly missed. His legacy of compassion, integrity, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were lucky enough to know him.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name may be made to Waltham Boys & Girls Club, 20 Exchange Street, Waltham, MA 02451 or www.walthambgc.org
