Joseph L. MacDonough, of Watertown, died Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Woburn Nursing Center following a period of declining health. He was 95.
Joe was born in Waltham on December 7, 1930, a son of the late J. Vincent and Margaret (Mahoney) MacDonough and had lived in Watertown for most of his life. He was a 1948 graduate of Watertown High School and four years later earned his bachelor’s degree from Boston College.
Until is retirement Joe worked for more than twenty-five years as a driver at McCue’s Taxi in Watertown and as a funeral assistant with Joyce Funeral Home in Waltham. Wherever her went, Joe’s kind, affable nature and ever present smile earned many friends. Before that he worked for a number of years as a sales manager for Reynolds Aluminum.
In addition to his longtime companion, Kim Kingsley of Watertown, he leaves several nieces, nephews and their families.
Joe was also a brother of the late Jeanne Cronin and Robert and Charles MacDonough.
Family and friends will honor and remember Joe’s life by gathering for an Evening Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Tuesday, May 19th from 5 to 7 p.m. and again at 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Patrick’s Church, 212 Main Street, Watertown where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m.
