Jack was born in Brighton on December 7, 1944, a son of the late Thaddeus and Bridie (Garrity) O’Malley. Raised in Brighton, he was a 1962 graduate of Saint Columbkille High School. Following high school he served honorably in the United States Marine Corps. After his time in the service he continued his studies at Northeast Institute of Industrial Technology where he trained to be an HVAC mechanic. He worked at Brandeis University for 23 years before retiring.
In retirement Jack was a Eucharistic Minister at Saint Pius X Chuch in South Yarmouth where he assisted with administering communion to seniors. He was also an avid golfer and member of The Bass River Golf Club. When not on the golf course Jack always enjoyed his daily walks on the Bass River or West Dennis Beaches.
Above all he loved the company of his family. He adored his five grandchildren and never missed any opportunity to see them. He also loved taking trips to New Hampshire and the Berkshires with his beloved wife of 49 years, Mary Jane, to see the beautiful New England foliage, while listing to Irish or Country on the radio.
In addition to his wife Mary Jane (Doherty) O’Malley, he leaves his children Michael J. O’Malley (Courtney) of Waltham and Kristen O’Malley Zetlan (Peter) of Ipswich, and his grandchildren Emma and Abigail O’Malley, and Esme, Greta and Wren Zetlan.
He was the brother of the late James P. O’Malley, Edward C. O’Malley, and Margaret ‘Peg’ Greene.
