John R. Fitzgerald

Waltham- Mr. John R. Fitzgerald of Waltham died Monday August 18th, 2003 in Maristhill Nursing Home. He was 90. Born in Waltham, a son of the late Robert M. and Irene E. (Maguire) Fitzgerald, Mr. Fitzgerald was a Pay Master for many years for the City of Waltham before his retirement in 1982. Mr. Fitzgerald was a graduate of Waltham High School, a member of Saint Jude Church and a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army. After the war he served in the U.S. Army Reserves for 30 years. Mr. Fitzgerald was the husband of the late Pauline N. (Kavanaugh) Fitzgerald and brother of the late Edward Fitzgerald and Helen Hawe. He is survived by three brothers Robert M. Fitzgerald of Bass River, James R. Fitzgerald and Patrick D. Fitzgerald both of Waltham and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held on Friday at 8am from the Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte, 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Saint Jude Church, 147 Main Street Waltham at 9am. Burial will be in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne at 12:30pm. Visiting hours Thursday 2-5pm.
