Mr. John F. Ciccolo, formerly of Wellesley and Naples, Florida, Boston and Belmont, died Monday, June 19, 2023 in The Soldiers Home in Chelsea. He was 92.
Giovanni F. 'John' Ciccolo was born on August 17, 1930 in Boston a son the late Italian immigrants Angelo and Caterina (Bombaci) Ciccolo. He graduated from Boston Technical High School and later earned his Bachelor's degree from Northeastern University. He served with the United States Air Force during the Korean War.
John enjoyed a career that spanned over forty-two years with John Hancock Financial Services Company working primarily in the mortgage and real estate departments, retiring in 1995. He and his late wife lived over thirty years in Wellesley and later divided their time in Naples, Florida. His wife, Patricia M. (Spano) Ciccolo died in 2005.
He was a trustee with the John Hancock FCA Association and served as chairman of the 1976 Celebration Ball for Operation Tall Ships Arrival at The Copley Plaza. John was a member of The Watertown Sons of Italy Lodge Piave Fiume #1036 and enjoyed gardening.
In addition to his wife, Patricia he is predeceased by his siblings, Anna Gravina (late John), Mary Mirabile (late Nicolo) and Alice Szczukowski.
He leaves his brother, Vincent Ciccolo and his wife, Carol of West Bridgewater; many nieces & nephews.
Family and friends will honor and remember John's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Monday, June 26th from 9:00 to 10:15 a.m. before leaving in procession to Saint Jude’s Church, 147 Main Street, Waltham where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Newton Cemetery, Newton.
