Joe Brown, formerly of Waltham, New York, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire, died November 20, 2025 at his home in Las Vegas, Nevada. He was 78 years old.
Son of the late Joseph F. and Corrine Brown, Joe was a National Merit Scholar and a 1964 graduate of Waltham High School. Upon graduation, he was awarded a full ROTC scholarship to Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire, served for three years in the
U.S. Army in Germany, and returned to Dartmouth with another full scholarship. Following his time at Dartmouth, Joe enjoyed a long and successful career with
Lufthansa German Airlines at JFK Airport in New York. While serving in Germany, he had perfected his three years of German studies at WHS and thrived at Lufthansa as Flight Planning Coordinator, preparing complex operational flight plans for pilots and operations teams. Joe was also the union representative, where his command of rules, contracts, and regulatory language proved formidable. Tiring of the cold weather on the east coast, he retired to a warmer climate in Nevada.
Joe is survived by his sisters, Corrine Emge of Roslindale and Carolyn Renna (Bob) of
South Weymouth; his niece and nephews, Tobey King (Tim) of East Bridgewater, Matthew Renna (Allison) of Hingham, Ryan Emge (Kathryn) of Weehawken, NJ, and Kyle Emge of Edinburgh, Scotland. He also leaves his grandnieces and grandnephews, Emily, Katie, and Carolyn Santamaria, Michael, Jack, Kaylee, and the late Mackenzie Allison Renn, Connor Emge and Halle Emge, in addition to many cousins in Massachusetts, Alabama, and Florida.
Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Joe's life on Saturday, May 30th at Westview Cemetery, 520 Bedford Street, Lexington, for his Graveside Service at 10:30 a.m. There are no calling hours.
In lieu of flowers and to honor Joe's memory, the family asks that we all remember to stay in touch and check in with each other, wear more green (Joe loved all things Irish and all things green - including his quirky habit of writing only with green ink! But most importantly, please continue to support and root for his beloved New England Patriots. Rest in eternal peace and happiness, Joe.
