Jianquan Huang

August 19, 1929 — June 1, 2021

Mr. Jianquan Huang, of Waltham, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 1, 2021. He was 91.

Jianquan was born on August 19, 1929 in Nanjing, China a son of the late Jianbai Huang and Mengrou Yao. He immigrated to the United States in 2011. While in China he was a Professor of Public Health in medical school as well as conducted research in occupational health.

Jianquan had a lifelong interest and passion in music, most especial classical with favored composers such as Mozart, Beethoven, Dvorak, Tchaikovsky, Brahms and Chopin. Throughout his life he remained curious and interested in learning, and evolving with the world surround him. As a life-long learner he became so erudite and tech-savvy that his family and close friends dotingly referred to him as 'The Encyclopedia'. Despite his significant achievements in career and personal life, Jianquan maintained his humbleness with a kindest heart. Jianquan kept active physically and would swim even until age 90 up to 1000 meters twice a week. Other interests included science, technology, photography, reading, and fixing things around the home. He will be very much missed by his family and remembered amongst many things as kind, patient, humble, and above all, the unconditional love and devotion to his wife and children.

He leaves behind his wife of 68 years, Xiaotao Zhuang and his son, Qin 'Daniel' Huang with wife Emma of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and his daughter, Jian Huang of Waltham; and his grandson Richard Huang.
