Janet E. (Dillon) Lucchese

August 31, 1940 — April 1, 2026

Medway, MA

Medway - Janet E. (Dillon) Lucchese, 85, of Medway, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at the home of her daughter, surrounded by the love of her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born on August 31, 1940, in Cambridge, Janet was the beloved daughter of the late John J. and Elizabeth F. (Brown) Dillon. She was raised in Waltham and carried with her a strong sense of family, loyalty, and care for others throughout her life. She later made her home in Medway, to be close to her grandchildren.

Janet was the devoted wife of the late James G. “Jim” Lucchese, with whom she shared a life centered around family, love, and dedication. Together they built a home full of warmth, laughter, and lasting memories.

She worked for many years as a lab technician, a role she took pride in through her diligence and strong work ethic.

Above all, Janet was a deeply devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She never missed a moment that mattered, always showing up and always making sure everyone was taken care of. Lovingly known as “Nana,” “Mama Lu,” and “Mrs. Make Sure,” she had a way of making everyone feel special, supported, and loved. Her presence was a constant source of comfort and strength to her family. In her high school yearbook, she was described as having “jest and youthful jollity,” a sentiment that remained true throughout her life and could still be seen in her warmth, humor, and love of being surrounded by those she cherished.

Janet found so much joy in time spent at Old Silver Beach and in Cape Cod trips with her family and friends. Those days by the water, filled with laughter, sunshine, and togetherness, were among her happiest. At the end of a long beach day, she would always smile and say it was time for a “Cape Cod collapse,” a phrase her family will forever cherish and carry with them.

She is survived by her loving children, James J. Lucchese of Medway, Amy B. Lucchese and her husband, James Pitt, of Wrentham, and Kerry A. Cassidy and her husband, Mickey, of Medway. She was the cherished grandmother of Kate Bucciero and her husband Brian, Michael Cassidy, and Grace and Emma Garabedian. She was also the proud great-grandmother of James and Grace Bucciero. Janet is further survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister, Mary Dillon.

Family and friends will honor and remember Janet’s life by gathering for an Evening Wake from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 9th at Joyce funeral home in Waltham. A celebration of life will be held on Friday, April 10th from 1 to 4 p.m. at Restaurant 45 in Medway.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in Janet’s memory to her grandkids Kate, Michael, & Brian (& honorary grandkids) team page as they are running the Falmouth Road race for Dana Farber in her honor.
