James D. McLellan

Waltham – Mr. James D. McLellan, of Waltham, died at home on Monday, February 7, 2022. He was 95.

Jim was born in Roxbury on August 28, 1926, a son of the late James and Margaret (Jamieson) McLellan and was a graduate of Commerce High School in Boston. After that he served with the United States Army during World War II.

Three years after his July, 1955 marriage to Maxine G. Hanscom, the pair moved to Waltham where they became lifelong residents. Until his retirement he worked for thirty-six years as a technical specialist for the Polaroid Corporation in Waltham.

He was an expert photographer who captured in film all of the important moments in his family's history. Summer trips to Wells Beach and Ogunquit, Maine became yearly family traditions.

Jim's beloved wife of sixty-four years, Maxine, died at the start of the pandemic on March 17, 2020.

He leave his daughter, Lorinda M. 'Lori' Gandolfo (Robert) of Waltham; his grandchildren, Robert Gandolfo, Jr. of Fitchburg, Gina Gandolfo of Waltham and Michael Gandolfo of Valdez, Alaska; his great-grandchildren, Joslyn and Valerie Janson; his sister, Claire Albers (John) of Westwood and several nieces, nephews and their families.

Jim was also the brother of the late Florence McLellan.

Family and friends will honor and remember Jim's life by gathering for his Funeral Service at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 14th in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham. Burial will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
