Boston – Rev. J. Armand Robichaud, S.M., died on Monday, October 23, 2017 in Marian Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in South Boston. He was 93.
Fr. Robichaud was born on December 4, 1923 in Lawrence, a son of the late Edmond and Josephine (Brideau) Robichaud. He was raised and educated in Cambridge where he attended Our Lady of Pity School. He then went on to Maryvale Seminary in Bedford and Marist College and Seminary in Framingham where he earned his bachelor's degree. He furthered his education at the Pontificium Athenaeum Angelicum in Rome, Italy, Emerson College in Boston where he earned his master's degree, Catholic University in Washington, D.C., and Assumption College in Worcester.
Fr. Robichaud made his First Profession on September 8, 1944 in Staten Island, New York and entered into the Priesthood on January 15, 1950 in Rome, Italy. He had been a professor in Dogmatic Theology at both Marist College in Framingham and Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York. He traveled the world spreading the Good News, spending time in Fiji, Senegal, Cameroon, Australia, New Zealand, Tonga as well as throughout the United States. He had also served as Pastor of Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence from 1975 to 1980. He was a brilliant man who was able to touch the lives of countless people.
In addition to his confreres in the Marist Community he is survived by many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Rev. Vincent Robichaud, S.M., Louis Robichaud, Louise Roy, Estelle Houle and Paul Robichaud.
Family and friends will honor and remember Fr. Robichaud's life by gathering to visit on Thursday, October 26, 2017 at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Parish/St. Theresa's Church, 22 Plymouth St., Methuen, where his Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Andover.
