Irene J. (Cusano) DellaCamera

Irene J. (Cusano) DellaCamera, of Waltham, died Friday, October 1, 2021 in Brightview Assisted Living in Arlington. She was 95. Irene lived in her beloved home in Waltham for sixty-six years.

Irene was born on November 5, 1925 in Waltham a daughter of the late Salvatore Cusano and Viola Caramanica. Raised and educated in Waltham she was a 1943 graduate of Waltham High School. She married Albert F. 'Al' DellaCamera on March 4, 1949 in Saint Mary's Church. Al died June 11, 2011.

For many years, Irene worked in various positions with BayBanks. Once retired from BayBanks, never one to be idle, Irene re-entered the workforce and worked five (5) years in Development at The Cambridge School of Weston before fully retiring.

Irene loved life, the people in it and the wonderful memories she made along the way. Family was everything to Irene. Time spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren were precious to Irene.

Irene's travels with family and friends to Paradise Island, Newport RI, Stinson and Lovell lakes in NH along with travel excursions with the Waltham Seniors and her bestie, Doreen Farrell all made for an enjoyed and memorable life. Irene and Al enjoyed road trips especially to Hampton Beach NH and Ogunquit ME.
A good book always at hand and a competitive game of checkers kept her mind active.

In addition to her husband Al, she was predeceased by her grandson, Jerid Chiasson and sister, Patricia Galloway.

She leaves her daughters, Susan E. DellaCamera (Charles Papia) of Rumney, New Hampshire, Karen A. Chiasson (Richard) of Waltham, Debra E. DellaCamera (Mark Rogers) of Lincoln and Gail M. Wessell (Chuck Georgiou) of Maynard; her grandchildren, Carrie Casey (Christopher), Taylor and Brogan Wessell, Sophia DellaCamera Rogers, Leigh Chiasson; great-grandchildren, Hailey and Alexandra 'Lexie'; her siblings, Michael Carme (Priscilla) of Waltham, David Carme (Lois) of Florida, Stephen Carme (Lanise), Janet Collins (late Al), both of Arlington; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends will honor and remember Irene's life by gathering for calling hours in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Thursday, October 7th from 4 to 7 p.m. and again at 8 a.m. on Friday morning before leaving in procession to Saint Mary's Church, 133 School Street, Waltham, where her Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
