Waltham - Mrs. Helen M. (Statkus) Scott of Waltham died Monday August 25, 2003 at Epoch Senior HealthCare Center in Weston. She was 87. Born in Stoughton, a daughter of the late Michael J. and Mary M. (Yarush) Statkus, Mrs. Scott was a self-employed child care worker as well as a baker who designed specialty cakes. She lived in Stoughton for many years before moving to Waltham in the mid 1930s. Mrs. Scott was a 1934 graduate of Stoughton High School, a Team Mother for Little Nippers and Connie Mack Baseball in Waltham, a member of the Waltham Lithuanian-American Committee of the Waltham Re-Discovered Project in the 1980s, and was also interested in antiques collecting and reading. Mrs. Scott was the wife of the late Gilbert J. Scott, mother of the late Patricia A. Scott and sister of the late Michael J. Statkus. She is survived by her children, Mary Ellen Brennan and her husband Donald, Gloria J. Champion and her husband William all of Waltham, Elizabeth H. Cusack and her husband Richard of Holliston and Gilbert J. Scott, Jr. and his wife Betty of Croghan, NY; one sister, Frances Taormina and her husband Julius of Venice, FL; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The Funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham followed by a Funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church 311 River Street, Waltham at 10 a.m. Burial will be in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
