Harry G. Burns, Jr.

Harry G. Burns, Jr., of Brockton, died at home on Wednesday, May 21, 2025. He was 69.

Harry was born in Newton on December 21, 1955, the son of the late Harry G. and Lorraine J. (Murphy) Burns. He was a graduate of Newton North High School.

Until his retirement Harry worked as a maintenance superintendent for the Town of Weston at the Brook School Apartments. Before that he’d worked as a mechanic at Hogan Tire and at Jet Spray in Waltham.

He also kept busy working with his son, Daniel, at HGB & Sons Landscaping in Brockton.

Harry loved any activity outdoors . . . boating, fishing, camping and he enjoyed it even more if he got there on his Harley.

He leaves his wife, Karen A. (Madden) Burns, his son, Daniel J. Burns (Katie) of Berkley; his granddaughter, Evelyn Grace Burns; his step-children, Matthew Downey (Christina) of Loudon, New Hampshire, Meghan Bernabeo (Michael) and their children, Aubree, Avianna and Lincoln, of Middleboro and Mason Downey of Brockton and many nieces and nephews.

Harry was also the father of the late Harry G. Burns, III.

Family and friends will honor and remember Harry’s life by gathering for a Morning Wake in The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham on Friday, May 30th from 10 to 11 a.m. followed by his funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery, Weston.
